ACCESS TO GRENOBLE

Grenoble is easily accessible by frequent and fast means of transportation. The town can be reached by car, train or plane.

Air travel to Paris , paris airports

Paris has two main airports, Charles de Gaulle (intercontinental flights, european flights) and Orly (european and national flights). From there, you can use the local transportation network RATP to reach the train station "Paris Gare de Lyon " from where the train directed to Grenoble depart. The travel from Paris to Grenoble takes about 3 hours by fast train (TGV); for details and timetables see the SNCF website. There is also one direct train per day from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Grenoble.

Air travel to Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS)

Lyon Saint-Exupéry is the international airport closest to Grenoble. From Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport, you can go to Grenoble using the shuttle bus service (recommended), the high speed train (TGV) or a taxi.

The bus stop for Grenoble is located outside the airport, between terminal 1 and 2, level 1. A sales counter "Satobus" is at your disposition from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. in the central airport building (tel. +33 (0)4 72 68 72 17). Tickets can also be obtained from the coach driver. We advise you to buy a return ticket which is much cheaper than two single tickets. The  travel lasts 1h.
When you arrive in Grenoble, the final bus stop is the bus station "gare routière", which is next to Grenoble railway station. The bus stops also at the Grenoble Polygone Scientifique, where the conference is being held. Tickets to Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport are sold at Grenoble bus station (gare routière), next to the railway station, Rue Emile Gueymard.

High Speed Train (TGV)
The travel from Lyon-St Exupéry-TGV to Grenoble lasts about 1h. Information can be directly obtained from the SNCF (French railways) website.

Taxis
Taxi stands are located in front of both terminals. It takes a 50 minutes to one hour ride to the centre of Grenoble.

Air travel to Genève-Cointrin (Geneva, Switzerland) (GVA)

Direct flights to 80 scheduled destinations, 40 regular airlines and numerous charter airlines.


Aero-Express serves regular shuttle services between Geneva International Airport (AIG) and Grenoble:
- fast (2 hours travel time)
- cost saving (no tolls or motorway sticker, fuel, parking charges)
Reservation required, minimum 48 hours in advance, through your travel agent, or directly to PRESTIGE TRAVEL (formaly Trans Managers). Please state your name, flight number , where from, time of arrival and airline.

Train
You can take one of the trains from "Genève Aéroport" to Genève central railway station "Genève Cornavin CFF", (trains leave every 15 minutes from the airport railway station) and then change for a train to Grenoble. It takes more than two hours and a half. More information can be obtained in the next paragraph.

Air travel to Grenoble Saint-Geoirs (GNB)

Grenoble-Saint Geoirs airport is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and handles connections with London, Roma, Stockholm and Varsaw.
Visitors should take the airport shuttle bus. A coach meets each schedule flight for transfer to the Grenoble bus station (gare routière), which is next to the Grenoble railway station. Regular services to Grenoble-Saint Geoirs airport leave the Grenoble bus station 75 minutes before each scheduled flight.


By rail
Grenoble is easily accessible from Paris using the high speed train (TGV) within three hours. There are at least 7 direct connections on weekdays each way. There is also one direct TGV per day to Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport which takes 3 hours 30 minutes.

By road
Although located in the heart of the French Alps, Grenoble has nevertheless well developed motorways (autoroutes) which link most major cities. To come by car, it takes approximately one hour from Lyon and 2 hours from Geneva.

From Lyon/Paris/Marseille (A 48/E 711 motorway) :
at Grenoble follow the signs "Grenoble Bastille Gares", then "Gares Europole" and exit number 16 "Grenoble/Polygone scientifique".

From Chambéry/Genève/Torino (A 41/E 712 motorway) :
at Grenoble follow the main direction "Lyon", then "Rocade sud", then take the A 480 motorway to Lyon, and the exit n?1 to "Sassenage/Polygone scientifique".
